Music Metadata filling my phone memory? Got a new VX8300, put a 2 gig micro-sd and *loaded* it up with music
using the VCast Music Essentials Manager.
Then I tried to take a picture. Got an insufficient memory error
message?! I have no music, no pictures and no videos stored in phone
memory, and I havn't downloaded any apps. So, I dug into the phone
memory and found 21.5mb used up by "Application."
Huh?
I tried power cycling. Nothing. I pulled the micro-sd out and found I
could still go into VCast and see all the music meta-data along with
albumn art. Hmmmmm ... Could it be that the data for 2 gigs worth of
songs, spread out over dozens of artists and albumns takes 21.5 mb?
Residing in internal memory?
Yikes!
Well, I'm thinking that the next step is to delete all the music through
the Music Essentials Manager, and see if that 21.5mb figure goes away.
If that's the case, I'm wondering if there is someway to pare down the
metadata. I really don't give a fig for albulm art - Can I turn that
off? I see that an alternative to using the Music Essentials Manager to
"Sync" my music is to load music directly to the micro SD from the PC.
I'm wondering if that avoids the big metadata load.
Any conventional wisdom or thoughts on this? Thanks!
