I'll also bet that someone like me takes those Dysons away, cleans the
filters and gives them a wipe over then sells them on again as they
will be near enough brand new.

You've also got to look after things properly. Too many people expect
things to work all on their own with no human intervention for service
and maintenence. Most of the refurbished\reconditioned stuff we come
across is simply cleaning\regular maintenence, which if the original
owner did they would still have the machine working for amny years.

People also expect things to be bombproof, they're not, you can
overload and break things.
