If it's O2 locked then I believe the answer is no - some claim to
unlock them but when asked they all say 'not yet possible' - O2 will
unlock it through working with Sony for £15, but you have to have a
year with them before they will do this, and that means start using
their service and paying them - registering the sim / phone will not
be good enough.
It may be possible to unlock it with complete firmware re-blowing, but
the famous sites are either down, cannot unlock O2 locked k800i's, or
scam you. I bought an unlocked O2 sim phone off ebya, it was selaed as
new, but found it locked and have found no one capable of unlocking it
- I email them, phone them, ask shops, no one can do it. Still, O2 are
the best and cheapest anyway for most things, and Tesco use O2 and are
cheaper for UK only for short periods of time - but are dearer as you
pay per minute and O2 charge 5p on normal Tariff after 3 minutes.
