Thanks for your report of the Netgear problem. The NetGear driver is NOT
written by NetGear.

It is by some company Marvell. I am not sure at this stage I am willing to
replace the router but I will keep that in mine.

My experience with LinkSys Router had not been good - that is why I replaced
it with NetGear. It froze and sputtered. Eventually it will not echo ping -
RIP. The service department was not responsive until I recommended people to
stay away from it that someone in the tech department took pity on me
(really one should not need to do this) and replaced it. It was not a
wireless router and hence it has been my back up router.

I am totally confused (even I am a developer) by the seemingly crazy version
numbering system. On their Web Site it was listing 2.3.20 but the driver and
all the information that NetGear installed is 3.01.01.07.

It would be more advisable to quote driver version instead of some software
version. One really should not need to install that wizard.

May be it is time to ditch NetGear as its product seems to have gone down
hill. May be it is time to give LinkSys or even some Taiwanese router a try.
