Wrong number text messages Lately I've been getting text messages from people I don't know. Not
selling anything, just boring stuff like, "Call me when you get home"
or "How was the movie". The senders are sometimes from vtext.com but
often as not they have seemingly valid phone numbers, but with faraway
area codes. I've tried responding to some of these people that they
have the wrong person/number and they either ignore me entirely or
reply with a ***? type of comment.
The problem seems to be getting worse, as I used to get wrong messages
perhaps once a week. Now it's as many as 4 or 5 a day. The other day
one message repeated itself about 5 times, marked as 'Duplicate
Message' by VZW. I thought perhaps there might be some sort of tech
problem so I called Verizon. Waste of time, that was. Said my only
option is to block text messages entirely. I don't have a text plan
and don't need one but neither do I want to totally turn off texting
because once or twice a month it comes in quite handy.
Anybody have any thoughts on this? Should I push for more tech support
or is this happening to lots of people?
Thanks,
