Not quite, asterisk can run on any Linux-based system and some other OSs
(such as BSD-derived systems). Debian is an example of a Linux-based OS.

Trixbox is a PBX based on asterisk and designed to be easy to
configure/administer.

CentOS is a free version of Redhat Enterprise Linux, and is a Linux
distribution comparable to Debian, Fedora, SUSE etc.

So you could pick one of ( Debian, CentOS, RHEL, Fedora, SUSE, etc) and
one of ( asterisk, trixbox ) to put together your system.
