Default Linksys dual antenna AP

With the dual antenna linksys access point, can I keep one antenna inside, and one outside to allow me to use a lappy inside, and connect to someone else outside?

They call it diversity antennas, but I dont know if that is just for reception. If it is, then it wouldnt help with 2 coverage areas.

Im quite keen to get something up there and running, im in beach haven, and I see 2 others listed on the map in the area.

What is the range between 2 APs with line of site and typical 9dB omnis on them?

Also, can any of these with integrated routers be reconfigured to move the 802.11 radio onto the WAN interface rather then the internal LAN side of the router? A single box solution is nicer then a 2 box
