The best thing is that you can walk into any T-Mobile shop tommorow and
require your (german) iPhone to be unlocked to be used with any SIM card
and they will just do it, for free. You will still have to pay your
T-Mobile plan (since there is no way to buy an iPhone without a plan in
Germany), but at least you can put in any SIM card when abroad and phone
cheaply instead of paying insane roaming charges then.
