I got a 4 megapixel little Canon from a thrift shop for $10 "untested".
The battery was dead and it wouldn't read memory cards.

I took it apart, now being out $10 and curious, only to find one of the
tiny contacts in the card reader slot bent over double when some idiot
shoved the card in, probably upside down. One pin extends out further
than the rest and took the brunt of the abuse. It uses 512K CF cards,
unfortunately. Luckily, they're real cheap, now.

I carefully bent it back straight with a little bend in it to make
contact with the card installed. It isn't pretty, but it does work just
fine, now.

It takes beautiful pictures with its motor-driven zoom lens that retracts
inside and cover closes when turned off. I love its old-fashioned
optical viewfinder so you don't have to squint at a sun-flooded LCD to
take a picture outside.
