Default Good sites for AP`s

Amateur radio operators in .nz have a national link for 2 meter/70cm bands and more, comprising of repeaters located on mostly prime sites.
each repeater location is maintained usually by proximity to the nearest radio club ( NZART ). To link citys like Auckland to Whangarei then itl be a definite target to secure good sites for aps, if its a non-profit organization then whats stopping us asking NZART clubs to hookup AP`s on thier sites?
I used to maintain a few of these sites myself, power is allready onsite etc.
ahwell just an idea
if anyone thinks this is a valid idea worth considering then i`ll chase it up
if not, no harm done
