Then why use a dumb design that has the USB port blocking the WAN ethernet
port?

Sure, there are some cases where you'd need or want to use a USB extender
cable. But not always. Having the USB port jammed right next to the WAN
port makes it useless for failover without a lot more cabling.

And at over $200 it's yet another overpriced aircard router. To say
nothing of it being SPAMMED to a newsgroup like that.
