Probably the wrong cable... I have tried 4 different ones (trying to save a
few bucks), all claiming they would work for the 8300 (but didn't), and
finally on the 5th one, direct from LG, got one that works..

I'd say just get the right cable from lg, rather than trying to save a few
bucks and get the wrong ones....Why do you want to (in your own words...
"I'd like to get this to work,"...) instead of just bite the bullet, spend a
few bucks and get one that absolutely works, rather than try to save a few
bucks by getting it from other sources? Of course if your time is worthless,
or your a masochist, then you can probably get another elcheapo one/dick
with it for a while/hope it works, and hey, you may actually get one that
works
