I have run a mouse and a keyboard over 16M of cat5 cable, thru a wall socket and a patch panel, and the associated cables, and it worked fine, but they are low speed.

Initially I tried a USB hub on the cable, and it didnt work, good thing there are 4 pairs in cat5 eh
