It says - "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG".
Built into a cheapish Toshiba laptop with Vista.

Seems to work fine. Only used it for a few minutes
but sees non-associated beacons and my own
traffic for sure.

I only have one device so I can't test promiscuous mode
properly at the present.
