Default D-link DWL-G520 and DI-624

I have looked all over the place for solutions to this problem, I have found people with similar problems and have tried their solutions to no avail

The hardware in question, A D-Link DWL G520 rev. B wireless card and A D-Link DI-624 rev. C. router

Two computers running windows XP sp2 (one home, one media edition) are connected to the router via network cable. they have no problems communicating with eachother and connecting to the internet.

The third computer running windows xp pro sp2 has the G520 card in it and will not aquire an IP address. I have gone through the guides, tried WEP, open and shared, WPA encryptions and even unprotected connections with no success.

I had to disable the wireless zero service in windows to be able to use the D-Link utility, configured it multiple times, and must have lost about 10 pounds with the amount of running up and downstairs to check and recheck the settings in the router compared to the settings on the card.
I have tried manually assigning an IP address and still no luck. restarted the router and computer multiple times. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

THe signal strength is at any time between 60-80% and the computer with the card is almost directly below the room with the router. I have tried every permutation of settings in the utility I could find, I just can't figure it out. I have been at this for 8 hours.

Any suggestions? the firmware is updated in the router and the utility and driver for the card are the lastet.
