Can you identify the IP address on your VAIO. if its value is something like 169.x.x.x then the OS is not being set by DHCP. To find out go to START - RUN - type cmd -enter then type ipconfig /all - enter it should give you the ip address, subnet mask and default gateway. also the address of the DHCP server.
