There are companies where you don't pay much and your credit never expires.
I have been using Babble and Voipfone for almost two years and the only
problem I have had was slow payment process with Babble. Also, you can get
1000 min per month for GBP 5 (to landlines in EU/AU, and landlines & mobiles
in US/Ca/AU/CN) - which I really can afford in return for good service.

Then, there is Mutualphone with comparably cheap calls, and their credit
also never expires.

Then, there are hundreds of other providers! People are just too lazy to
look out on the web. It's easier for them to join a usenet group and keep
complaining.
