I never resolved it. Sony were of no use at all in fact 3 different people I spoke to never returned my calls!
I have the wireless network working using a 3com network card. Obviously it is a compatiability issue with the inbuilt wifi in the Sony notebooks. Some assistance from Sony would have been nice. Good luck and let me know if you resolve it.
