I think what the tricky dickies drone was trying to say was to get your computer on the same subnet as the AP.
Let's look at this another way:
Your router is 192.168.1.2 right?
Therefore, assuming for a moment that your computer is hooked up to the router via ethernet, your computer will also be on the 192.168.1.x subnet (let's say for the sake of argument that your computer is 192.168.1.3, and points to 192.168.1.2 for the gateway)
As your computer is on 192.168.1.x, it cannot and will not talk to anything that is not also on 192.168.1.x Because the AP is on 192.168.0.x and not 192.168.1.x, the two wont see each other.
SO, the solution to that problem is to manually set your computer to the 192.168.0.x subnet, setup your AP and bring them both back to 192.168.1.x
So, step by step:
1 ) Change your PC's IP address to 192.168.0.3
2 ) Use the crappy SNMP to setup the crappy DSE AP crap
3 ) GOTO my last post
4 ) follow the advice in my last post
5 ) Bring your PC's IP back to 192.168.1.3 or DHCP or whatever it was before step 1
6 ) With everything now on the same subnet, everything should be hunky dory
