I have a T-Mobile MDA (identical to your 8125.) The menu setting to let
the GSM network set your time is hidden by default and needs a registry
edit to show. (HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\ShowTimeZonePage=1 )

Then you'll find the option in the phone app's "options" menu.
