I had severe problem on my Sony Vaio when connecting to wifi. It used to take upto 15 minutes to get connected to wifi. After several hours of searching and trial and error methods, the problem was found. Very simple problem which made me feel ashamed of myself. The problem was that my system date was not the current date. When the date was corrected, wifi connection problem got resolved immediately and never happened again. I never understood the relation between system date and wifi connection. But my experience made me believe that there is some relation between these two. You may check the same before trying other complicated solutions.
