Skype doesn't work on dialup. They don't even recommend trying it, but
it does work on a VZW aircard if they don't catch you. The lag on Skype
on broadband is too small to bother you. Skype is also full duplex, so
there's no "cutting out". As I said, no dialups.

As to the use in the sticks, I'd bet, in Barbados, the toyphones will be
as dead as a doornail from that ditch. Hell, they don't even work in
rural America, to say nothing of little 3rd world countries. I think
you're dreaming if you want to depend on them out in the jungle.

Noone "needs Skype". If stupid typing messaging is your bag, have at it.
But, no thanks for me. I'm a big boy now and have moved on from typing
except on usenet. I'm sorry you don't have broadband where you are. I'd
get off the net if I had to go back. It's just too frustrating to use,
these days, with all these bandwidth-hoggin' things.
