You can either plug in an access point, which will add wireless capabilities to your wired router, or you can buy a wireless router. The reason I'd recommend a whole new wireless router is because having less devices at the core of your network minimizes the potential issues that could be had. In essence, its easier to maintain and troubleshoot one router with wireless capabilities than having a wired router and an access point.
