It might be different, as the two cases I refer to are just pure
cancellations - no porting. Here, Vodafone insist upon a letter detailing
your intention to cancel, and it's considered 30 days notice. This means
that, if you cancel five days before your 12 months are up, you will still
be paying for 25 days outside your contract :\
As I said though, not sure if the above is true with porting your number
