Yeah, I'm thinking that the RF interference possibility is the issue...I tried setting both the laptop and AP to G only, and turned all other devices off. This didn't fix the issue.
I haven't tried a different channel as it seems the Apple airport express I'm using as a network extender doesn't want to talk to non-apple products on channels otherthan 1. If I'm feeling particularly saucy, maybe I'll try pressing my luck
I'm beginning to think there may be an incompatibility between the broadcom 4311 chip in the laptop's wireless card and whatever's in the Belkin router...I've since googled some info where this 4311 chip doesn't like to connect to different routers and will probably try slapping in something with an Atheros chipset to see if that fixes the issue.
