Registering a new SIM with upgrade but selling phone? (Orange) Hi everyone,
I'm on Orange and recently upgraded my C600 to an M600 and in the
process was given a new SIM. Whilst trialling the phone for the 7 days
I used my old SIM to enable the process of returning the phone (and new
SIM) that much simpler should I decide to keep it.
I kept the phone and have been using it (still with the old SIM) for a
couple of weeks now however yesterday I was unable to connect to GPRS
(it was working fine for the two weeks prior). I wondered if it was
anything to do with me not registering/using the new SIM so phoned
Orange who confirmed it 'probably' was so I went ahead and registered
the new one. The old SIM was subsequently cancelled and the the new one
activated. GPRS access returned once more.
However, my question (finally) is that my girlfriend recently took
advantage of the free Nokia upgrade on her OVP Virgin account. She's
decided that she doesn't like the new phone so will be sticking it on
eBay. Should she still register her new SIM given that my old one
seemingly was being restricted to certain services (accorind to Orange)
- might that happen to her? Furthermore, I was actually phoning Orange
to register my *phone* (according to the supplied documentation) yet
she won't be - she'll be keeping her old phone yet using the new SIM.
Which phone will be 'registered' against her account? Will/can Orange
care that she's planning on selling it?
Of course in an ideal world I'd phone Orange and hear it from the
horse's mouth however I can't help but feel I might as well be
literally doing just that...
