They'll already have the IMEI on their system when you give them the
other info.

You may not want to register the handset as your upgrade, but it *was*
your upgrade, so you have to! The only thing you have to remember is
if your phone ever gets lost/stolen make sure they bar the handset you
were using, rather than the handset associated with your account (all
your 6070's!). It's not going to stop anyone else registering it as
their phone if Orange ask the new owners for an IMEI.

If you don't register it, it will just happen automatically after x
amount of days - and its far better to specify the time for your SIM
swap rather than have it happen when you're least expecting it (and
nowhere near the new SIM).
