Multiple repeaters (possible?) I need to connect 2 homes that are one block away from each other. Only one of them has an internet connection (dsl). The ISP provides a modem-router (not wireless). I have tried unsuccesfully to connect the two homes but there is no line of sight. I used:
Modem/Router---->Wireless-Router---->client
But no connection. Plan B is:
Modem/router---->Wireless-Router1(Repeater Mode?)----->Wireless-Router2(Repeater Mode?)----->Wireless-Router3(Repeater Mode?).
With this setup, I'm thinking of installing a 2nd wireless link somewhere in between the two homes so that there is line-of-sight. That way the 3rd wireless link can be installed in the 2nd home and cover that area.
The idea is to have the 1st home connected with wireless (1st wireless AP) and the 2nd home in the same fashion. So 1 wireless AP (or router) in bridge mode at each home with a another AP/Router acting as a link between them.
I was thinking of Buffalo WHR-HP-AG108 or WHR-HP-G54. I know that you need to specify the MAC address of the wireless AP when connecting in bridge mode. My questions are:
1) Is it possible to have more than one AP/Router in bridge mode (at least with this model)?
2) Does anyone recommend any other wireless products (available in UK)?
3) Does this sound like a good idea? Any other ideas?
I don't want to go into installing external antennas, etc. Need something that will be indoors. |
