Sorry - good point Zimmy. I should have made the terms of the deal much
clearer (it was, afterall, the middle of the night and I was a bit dopey).
The cost over the minimum term of the contract is zero only after
claiming the cashback of £420 from either Phonebox Direct or Cool New
Mobile (depending on which retailer you go for).
It's worth pointing out that there is a risk that either
(a) you fail to follow the terms and conditions of the cashback for a
particular claim, which will result in a failed claim and all subsequent
claims being voided by the retailer.
(b) you forget to claim one of your amounts, which will result in the
remainder of the cashback being voided by the retailer.
(c) one of your claims gets lost in the post, which will result in that
claim and the remainder of the cashback being voided by the retailer -
however, if you sent your claim via Royal Mail Special Delivery with
consequential loss, you can hold the Royal Mail liable for the
consequences of any lost/late-delivered post (namely, the loss of your
remaining cashback).
However, if you are very organised and can diarise your claims schedule
and keep all your paperwork in order for when you need to claim you
should have little or no problems with claiming the cashback.
ALTERNATIVELY...if you are nearing the end of an existing contract, why
not just use this information to hardball a decent renewal deal from
your existing supplier? It won't be quite as cheap as these deals but,
equally, it won't require you to claim any cashback - sometimes the cost
difference over the term of your new contract can be small enough (c.
£50-£100) to make it justifiable as a reasonable additional cost for
absolute peace of mind.
