Default I'm concerned that 02/genie may try and trace me (location). Are there any phones that allow you to stay private

I watch The Bill. It seems the police can use location information to
find out where you are (rightly so)

But also, in a recent change to the 02 terms & conditions, they are
allowed to pass on my information (regarding where I am in the UK) to
debt collection agencies etc.

I owe HSBC about 700 UKPounds.

I have a bad credit score but I don't care as I now spend 70% of my
time overseas

However, I'm on a cracking deal. I get 50mins off peak everyday and
*literally* unlimited SMS text messages

I text alot (so it's a superb deal)

I realise I can just take the battery out of the phone (to prevent
being traced) but what if I want to text people?

Suppose I use a really old handset. Will this make a difference? Or
can they still trace me from my signal.

PS - this is not my IP address. I am using a guest internet connection
in a public building.
