I have a home network with a cable modem connected to a link sys
router. I have a desktop running windows xp connected to the router
through a cat-5 cable, and two laptops running windows xp connecting
wirelessly. The laptops still connect, through my router, to the
internet with no difficulty. Suddenly my desktop, however, stopped
connecting. My network settings all seem appropriate, my ethernet
card is functional, I can use ipconfig/release and ipconfig /renew. I
can ping localhost and ping my router. I just can't ping an internet
site or get IE, firefox, AIM, etc to connect to the internet on my
desktop.

Any ideas?
