What a fantasy land you live in, Vic. Verizon has EVDO Rev A running in
most markets, fastest there is. The technology supports an amazing
download speed. Unfortunately, it's going through a RADIO system that
operates on PROPAGATION PHYSICS with INTERFERENCE and PACKET CRASHING. So,
it runs about 600-1000 Kbps...about like it says in the Verizon literature.

ATT on 1900 Mhz will never exceed that....if they ever get the damned
system completed.

What would you use faster for on iPhone? You can't download anything and
it doesn't support real streaming....???

Drinking early today Larry?

AT&T offers the nation’s fastest 3G network PERIOD

AT&T now offers the nation’s most reliable speed upgrade to an
existing 3G network PERIOD

Will Verizon even have the new phones that can even take advantage of
these speed improvements -when?

The iPhone 3.0 is there already for AT&T.

No proof and your wild claims are not backed up by a single piece of data
available anywhere.

Vic is an idiot.

May I direct your misinformed carcass to:

http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/?zip=29485

Notice how the DARK blue 3G coverage ENDS long before you get to
"Summerville", a major bedroom community of the Charleston Metropolitan
area. Our fair city extends to the NW about to where that first I-26
marker is on the interstate, none of which is 3G covered until you get
to downtown Columbia, SC's capital. So, not only does ATT have NO 3G
COVERAGE in about half the metropolitan Charleston area....they have no
coverage but a spotty 1X in the countryside......"Fastest 3G network",
of course, doesn't mean they actually have COVERAGE in 3G anywhere....

Now, if you'll move the map and zoom out so you can see the area between
Charleston, Savannah, Atlanta and Valdosta, GA, you'll find ATT has NO
COVERAGE AT ALL over 90% of that vast area of the country....NONE! NOT
EVEN PHONE!

This is just a small example of the shitty ATT service across the
country. If it doesn't roam onto someone else's system....IT'S DEAD!

Now, I'd like to direct your attention to:
http://tinyurl.com/cn9aoo
the Alltel high speed internet network Verizon just bought.
Click on the coverage button and you'll notice the VAST, SMOOTH EVDO Rev
0 or A coverage across the South Carolina countryside, all of Georgia
and all tlhe boondocks in between. ADD to this the Verizon EVDO
coverage map:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?
item=planFirst&action=viewPlanList&sortOption=pric eSort&typeId=5
&subTypeId=13&catId=409

or

http://tinyurl.com/y6dx66

and you will notice Verizon has poor rural service across the South,
also, that Alltel has been providing for years.

I travel with internet radio playing away through my little Nokia Linux
tablets through the big stereos in my vehicles. They run flawlessly,
even in the remote boondocks, as does Maemo Mapper plotting my course on
the satellite tiles....across vast areas ATT doesn't even ring a phone!

Best coverage my ass.....ATT sucks!

This is why USENET is for fools. Any person here can do a Google
Search for the fastest clellular network GSM.
They can do a search for the fastest cellular network in the USA -
AT&T
The can search for HONEST reviews and tests for the fastest and other
features - ALL AT&T HANDS DOWN
They can look to see who has the most complete coverage where it
matters - AT&T but that last can be modified in that the question is
irrelevant in that all the big three networks do a good job.
Look at where any phone bought for Verizon verses the iPhone on AT&T.
The AT&T iPhone can be used in far more places as you travel if you
are including AT&T's roaming partners than a Verizon or Sprint phone.

AT&T has the fastest 3G network in real life and it is getting faster
this year.

I am 100% confident in my facts and they are out there for any
competent person to look up.

If you can not due a Google serarch and seperate the foolish drivel
from the facts then you need to turn off your computer buy and ugly
phone and go send text messages to little girls.

Larry I excuse you because I know it is the drink. The rest are
incompetent fools and there is no excuse.

Not even AT&T cares if you don't have 3G coverage in some place in SC.
They have coverage where it matters for 97% of the population.
AT&T has more coverage in more areas of the world than any business
person would get if he chose a CDMA phone for global travels, like 30
countries more!

Actually, no they don't. Not even close on 3g.

http://www.cellularmap.net/net_compare.shtml

The red spots (if you can find them) are areas AT&T has 3G and Verizon
doesn't. The giant yellow areas are where Verizon has 3G and AT&T doesn't.
Yes, AT&T has higher speeds theoretically, but far more limited
coverage. That certainly doesn't make one the "right" choice, and the
other "wrong," but it's certainly not "drivel" to claim Verizon a winner,
since their EVDO beats AT&T's EDGE coverage, which represents most of
AT&T's service area.

A number of Verizon and Sprint smartphones, like a few Blackberries, the
Moto Q Global, also include GSM for international compatibility.

And 4G is a year or two away...

Yep- high speed, low coverage.

Maybe I'll MMS them, just because my ugly phone can... ;-)

But their competition does care.

Nowhere near 97%- maybe the "easy" 80- the metro areas, again, which is
fine if it covers where _you_ go. But to pretend the rest of the country
is unimportant because your fanboi phone doesn't work there is
disingenuous.

Again, for those it matters to, can buy a Verizon or Sprint CDMA/GSM
handset and have the best of both worlds- AT&T customers can't do the
reverse.

Still pales vs. Verizon's particularly west of the Mississippi.

But I'm still a die-hard GSM fan- simultaneous 3G voice and data is a big
advantage, IMO.

Isn't it amazing the size of the area of the USA that has no sellphone
