The biggest elephant on the plains has just stood up and is starting the
biggest wireless installation ever in the USA.
Nokia Siemens Networks just won an 8-year, $7 Billion contract to build out
40,000 base stations covering 92% of the US Population by 2015, the biggest
contract ever.
NSN just purchased Motorola's telecom network equipment business for $1.2B.
LTE just got a BIG BOOST in the USA.
Thanks Nokia and Siemens....two of the largest telecom companies on the
planet.
"Hays said LightSquared was looking for mobile virtual network operator
(MVNO) partners in wireless carriers, who could include Deutsche Telekom AG
unit T-Mobile USA, MetroPCS, Leap Wireless and U.S. Cellular."
Leap Communications is Cricket, which is growing here a massive system.
Cricket may be MVNO on the new 4G system....

And money issues aside:
"We would note, however, that Harbinger is starting from nothing and
it will take a long time before it is a presence in the market," she

You don't read well, do you? Nokia and Siemens are the one that have to
get paid, not the ones that have to raise the cash.

He doesn't understand ideas such as things need to be paid for and then
they need to charge for their service. After all the public owns the
airwaves so these companies are simply going to spend billions of their
investors money so Larry can have free connectivity...

An investment company has hired Nokia Siemens Networks to build a hybrid 4G-satellite mobile network, called
LightSquared, across the U.S. to go live next year.
Harbinger Capital Partners, which earlier this year acquired satellite phone service provider SkyTerra, announced on
Tuesday it will pay NSN more than US$7 billion over eight years to design, build and operate the network. LightSquared
will reach 92 percent of the U.S. population by 2015, the company said. It expects a commercial launch in the second half
of 2011, according to the LightSquared website.
Harbinger will not offer a service on the LightSquared network itself but will sell access to it on a wholesale basis,
allowing for a variety of service providers that could include mobile carriers, cable operators, device makers, retailers
and content creators. Those customers could offer any combination of 4G, satellite or both.
