the ipad is not a laptop and it does run a 'real operating system.'

android tablets have optional keyboards too, but i don't see any
bashing of those, especially when the competition does less and costs
more. for some reason, the keyboard/case for the galaxy tab does not
work with the sprint/verizon models. i bet it would work with a verizon
ipad.

At least it's sufficient for e-mail and light word processing with the
keyboard. When you just need a system for the web and e-mail, while out
and about, it'll do. No one is doing CAD/CAM or non-linear video editing
on an iPad (or a netbook for that matter).
