Default iphone trip to Germany

In early May, I will be taking a two week trip to Germany, does any
inexpensive way exist to take and use my iphone while over there? I would be
making local (in Germany) calls as well calls back to the states?

Thanks for any info,

You'd have to unlock your iPhone, and buy a local SIM in Germany.

AT&T will charge you roaming bucks per minutes if you
tryed to go with AT&T

He never used his iPhone, just left it on. The iPhone checked his email
every X minutes and THAT's what ran the bill up to $4,100+.....

This guy took his Iphone overseas and stopped all the charging nonsense.
He simply removed the SIM card mount and left the SIM card at home to
prevent data/phone charges overseas.......not a bad idea, at all
