Default iPhones to "evaporate instantly," and supplies "will likely be scarcefor a while."

Softbank Shifts Strategy With iPhone; Prices Device Starting At $215

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...062300476.html

EXCERPT

CEO Masayoshi Son said, "There have been users who were just attracted
to our low price, but the main point this time is feature
attractiveness rather than price." Son has also predicted that the
phones will be a sell-out in Japan, which analysts and even Son
himself have questioned.

Son said he expected the first batch of iPhones to "evaporate
instantly," and that supplies "will likely be scarce for a while."

I suspect that there will likely be riots on the sales lines. I'm sure
thought, that those on the short end of the stick will manage to live
vicariously through your many posts on the subject.

It's kinda funny to think that 20, 30, 50 years ago they were
predicting that we'd have riots on the food lines because starving
millions couldn't afford the scarce food available. The reality being
that the riots are about "essential" items like game consoles and
cellphones; we see long lines of 300lb teenagers fighting over the
last Wii in the store. So much for Malthus.

I do not think there will be any significant lines in the USA. I am
convinced we are in a recession which may become a global depression
by 2009.

The global fights for food and water are already brewing, so not to
worry.
