i think larry has a permeant mental block about memory. he's the guy
that thought having removable storage on a mobile device was still a
good idea. he's totally BLIND to the fact most iphones come with 16
GIGABYTES of available storage, so trying to still use a SD card is
pointless.

he's still living in 2004, i'm afraid.

As opposed to you, who still has plug his phone into a computer to copy a

Can you not buy songs from iTunes when the iPhone is on 3G or WiFi?

Yes, you can not buy songs from iTunes when an iPhone is on 3G or WiFi.
You can also not buy songs from iTunes when your iPhone is on the desk,
in your pocket, or in the toilet.

In fact, you can not buy songs from iTunes without even having an
iPhone.

If you're talking about loading your own music on to the device, the
iPhone too is stuck in 1999 despite having this capability in most other
PDA/smartphone devices.

Notice how there has been ZERO response to my challenge to iphoners to
convert the text on iphone examples I posted converted by Google......

ZERO.....only the canned few word bullshit of the Apple ads.....

I want to see it convert:

AT&T does not warrant that information, graphic depictions, product and
service descriptions or other content of the Sites is accurate,
complete, reliable, updated, current, or error-free. Despite our
efforts, it is possible that a price for a product or service offered on
the Site may be inaccurate or the product or service description may
contain an inaccuracy. In the event AT&T determines that a product or
service contains an inaccurate price or description, AT&T reserves the
right to take any action it deems reasonable and necessary, in its sole
discretion, to rectify the error, including without limitation canceling
your order, unless prohibited by law. AT&T may make improvements or
changes to any of its content, information products, services, or
programs described on the Sites at any time without notice. You agree to
notify AT&T immediately if you become aware of any pricing or
descriptive errors or inconsistencies with any products or services you
order through the Sites and comply with any corrective action taken by
AT&T.

like Google translates it:

"AT & T no garantiza que la información, representaciones gráficas,
descripciones de productos y servicios o el contenido de los sitios es
exacta, completa, fiable, actualizada, actual o libre de errores. A
AT & T pueden hacer

An Iphoner was amazed to see me bluetooth FTP some MP3 songs from my
Samsung NC10 netbook (Win XP) to my Nokia N800 Linux tablet in the Pizza
shop a week ago. He saw me fiddling with both, marking a bunch of files
with CTRL-click then dragging them over to the External 16GB memory card
resident in its slot in my Linux tablet and just had to know how to do
that. "I have to use iTunes at home.", he said after a little reality
check.

After the BT transfer was over, I showed him how to transfer files
between the netbook and Linux tablets faster by hooking them both to the
wifi LAN of my Cradlepoint CTR350 mobile hotspot velcro'd to the outside
of my netbook carrying case......(c;]

yes, that action works perfectly. download any song from anywhere, drag
and drop... bam! it doesn't get any easier than that.

it's the pure beauty of any ipod or iphone...

yes, macs, iphones and itunes do the same thing, just more quickly and
easily.

I can, at least when on WiFi. Not that I would, since I don't buy
music from iTunes as I like being able to take and play my content on
any device or with any software I prefer.

Which illustrates my point exactly. Since you can easily load pirated
music on the iPhone via a cable using iTunes, blocking all other forms of
loading music (WiFi, BT, email, etc.) doesn't in any way stop piracy, yet
inconveniences legitimate users. It'd be nice if the platform cared more
about its legitimate users than trying to mildly inconvenience the
miscreants.

Recently on vacation, I "dragged and dropped" my daughter's new Hanna
Montana CD from my home PC in Colorado to my Windows Mobile phone in
Chicago over the hotel's WiFi. From there it was an easy matter to copy
it to her MP3 player via the phone's removable flash memory. (Normally I
wouldn't have bothered, but I promised to load it on her player before
leaving but didn't get around to it.)

....THAT's the pure beauty of a platform not beholden to the RIAA or the
NAB...

Yes, of course. However, I'm not sure rebuying the music already sitting
on your computer is a practical alternative to wireless file transfers.

Okay, I'll bite -- How can I copy music to my iPhone from my iBook over
bluetooth?

You, sure can buy music from iTunes you want. You can also not buy
music from iTunes if you want.

You and me both.

Who said anything about pirated? You are aware that there are plenty of
legal ways to acquire music other then iTunes, no?

Say I were to have a friend in a band (I do), and say he were to give me
a copy of his music in MP3 format (he did), how would I load said music
without a cable?

Heck, lets take that out of the equation and say I use iTunes. I bought
some music on iTunes a couple years ago, how would I load it on my
iPhone today without a cable?

I know two other people also interested in this, so I'll be watching for
the answer, too!

I'll even give credit for wifi solutions instead of bluetooth, BT is far
too slow for my tastes anyway although it does the job in a pinch.
