Default Retrieving SMS Messages from Web Page

Given the problems with high costs when roaming in a foreign country, I am
wondering if ATT (or Verizon) have a solution that would let you retrieve
your SMS messages from a web page instead of needing to turn the phone on.

Google Voice. Lets you view/send SMS from the phone app (either on 3G
or WiFi) or on any computer from a web page. Integrates voicemail
also (walks you through setting provider to forward on busy/no
answer), with the audio message available via app, online, or by email
along with a transcript (which is often laughable, but usually enough
to get the idea of what the call is about). Completely free; I use it
on Android, but I believe they have an iPhone app also.

It's not perfect -- you need to have people send SMS messages to a
different number (or port your number to GV, which may not be ideal),
and it can't handle MMS picture/videos. But for me, the benefits
outweigh those drawbacks, especially for the price difference.

i recently signed up for the personal hotspot wifi, i think it's known
as mifi, on att with 5gb data per month and i have a online portal page
for my text messages as well as other info. the device is called elevate
and the access page is att.elevate which can only be accessed while i'm
on att network. i do not have phone service through att which is where
you are coming from so i'm not sure if a text portal is available for
you, however, i agree with you that it should be if att wants to provide
first class service to you as they claim they do.
