If you're fed up with ATT's wonderful and amazing footprint, which
doesn't include your house or office, of course, but don't want to get
ripped off by Verizon's horrible plan prices, you can be on Verizon in
10 minutes by using Page Plus Cellular's prepaid plans very cheaply.
Anyone with a supersmartphone just go on to the next message....This is
about phone service with texting and without....no internet, no frills.
First determine how many minutes per month you use from your old bills.
Add 20% because you'll have service where you didn't before. Verizon's
footprint is just much bigger and works better.
Do you use over 500 minutes per month? Then, pick one of the prepaid
monthly plans. One has 1200 minutes of talk and 1200 text AND PICTURE
messages per month with 50MB of data for email at $29.95. That $29.95
ISN'T plus another $18 in funny fees and addons for office supplies like
the post paid carriers play....$29.95 is IT, taxes and all!
I don't think this plan rolls over minutes. It doesn't say it does.
Now, if 1200 minutes isn't enough, for another $10/mo you can go on the
unlimited talk n text plan WITH NO PICTURE MESSAGES and only 20MB of
data for $39.95 total cost. Talk and text until your fingers bleed.
The text and picture messaging do NOT use up your data allowance...no
funny business.
Now the other trick. How about just pay 5.3c/min for only what you use
with no funny business like stealing your money? Great info is here:

Basically how this very cheap per minute rate works is because Pageplus
rolls over minutes from period to period, which is 120 days (4 months).
Just because it's been 4 months, if you buy something every 4 months to
keep your plan running, you keep your minutes not used...very fair
indeed.
To do that, this guy puts the plan on automatic pay, which you do from
the webpage with a credit card, so you can't forget and blow it....very
important to us forgetful old farts like me. Just have the plan put a
$10/83minute cheapcard (high min rate) on the plan every 4 months,
automatically charged to your credit card. But, don't buy more minutes
from here. Buy the $80/1400 minute card from a discounter for $72 or
5c/min. Sometimes you can find cards on an even better sale! The math
works out to about 5.3c/min this way, a real steal!
So, you talk 200 minutes a month? 200 x 5.3 = $10.60/month for Verizon
phone service anywhere in America to anywhere in America! That's it!
They talk about a 50c/month fee, but I'm not being charged it after
talking to the very nice service rep on Pageplus. Only use your
cellphone for emergencies? Man, talk about having a cellphone cheap!
As you lower your usage to only using the 83 minutes on the automatic
card, at 12c/min, in 4 months not one, you can't get below $2.50/month
for 20 minutes per month. Even then 3 minutes will pile up every
period. Try to beat $2.50/month for Verizon-covered cellular service.
Pageplus will put ANY CDMA phone that covers your local Verizon system
on this service, but to go nationwide you'll need a triband/trimode
phone. I'm buying Motorola V60i era phones for 99c at thrift shops,
making the phones virtually free! Hookup is painless. Go to
pagepluscellular.com and sign up for service for $10 on your credit
card. They give you 100 minutes to start free. Remove the battery from
the phone you have and write down the ESN, also called MEID, as that's
how the system finds the phone you want to program. You'll have to
enter it into the webpage. There is no SIM card to buy. CDMA has no
cards. Put the battery back and make sure it's charged up. (It's a
good idea to test a used phone and battery by leaving them run for a day
after charging them before attempting programming on the new service.
Most phones in thrift shops just need a battery...or a charger.) Turn
the phone on and dial #22273 [SEND] to call pageplus' system. Sit and
watch the pretty lights and answer YES to "Do you want to start
programming?" when it asks. Pageplus will put your new phone number in
your phone and put the phone on service, WITHOUT TRASHING IT WITH
VERIZON HOBBLEWARE. The other functions still work like they did when
you got it. Mine still says Alltel on it and even Celltop would work if
I were willing to pay for data service to feed it data....which I'm not.
The camera will copy files to the microSD unhobbled, for instance. If
you have a choice at the thrift shop, Alltel phones were always
unhobbled. WARNING - If you use any of the phone's data service and
don't have a data service plan, you'll be charged a lot for data service
for the browser, any online stuff, etc., already in the phone. Unload
the phone as much as you can to disable these expensive toys on
pageplus.
Works great over here.....5 bars and no dropped calls! Verizon's system
was always great. It was the COMPANY screwing me without my permission
that pissed me off before. I hate being lied to! Now I get to use
Verizon's good system....WITHOUT the Company Clowns and deceit.
Need to make the occasional long-winded call but don't need it instantly
from the car? Put Skype on your home computer and buy their cheap
unlimited Skype Out for $28/year. Make those long calls to grandma from
Skype. I also tell someone who wants to make a long conversation I'm in
heavy traffic and will call them back when I can....from Skype for
nearly free so they can prattle on and on without using up my minutes on
pageplus. They'll buy it because most people calling me want me to do
something for them, anyways.....(c;]
