Default You CAN get NPR on your iPhone

You CAN get NPR on your iPhone

npr.org —

While there is no NPR app, just point your iPhone or other device to
m.npr.org , and start streaming.

http://digg.com/apple/You_CAN_get_NPR_on_your_iPhone

They can not ignore that most their mobile audience probably is using
an iPhone so they just made that for us. You can even get your local
broadcasts from NPR once inside the NPR/iPhone mobile pages.

So, which is it? Is it, "just point your iPhone or other device" or is it,
"They can not ignore that most their mobile audience probably is using an
iPhone so they just made that for us?"

No need to contradict the troll when he contradicts himself.

The actual iPhone link on NPR?
Try it without an iPhone, the page displays but you don't get an audio
option.
Try it with you PC web browser same thing.

The actual iPhone link from the m/npr is unique for the iPhone and
delivers the audio to the iPhone. Then you can play a game or whatever
while listening to NPR. If a phone call comes in NPR fades and
resumes when the call is over.

Like all the software for the iPhone I think it is pretty neat for
real world use.

It isn't like the winmo crash prone sluggish crap I had pre iPhone.

Or maybe I could use the existing links for a Blackberry, AT&T or Sprint
phone.

Looks like yet another case of the iPhone struggling to catch up with
the rest of the real world.

Unique how?

You mean just like I did on my Blackberry?

I've had a few WinMo phones- never had a problem with a single one of
them. Sounds like the technology might be a little above your head.
You're better off with idiotware like the iPhone.

What other phones did you try? I get two "sten" links on my WinMo phone:
"call" and "stream."

From the "help" file at m.npr.org:

"Do I need to have mobile service through a specific carrier to use NPR
Mobile?"

"No."

"Do I need a specific type of phone or device?"

"NPR Mobile Web requires a phone or device capable of accessing the Web and
a data plan."

"How does audio work on NPR Mobile Web"
"All users of NPR Mobile Web will have the option to hear audio via a click-
to-call link that initiates a phone call to a number that plays the story
(the number will be from a variety of area codes). If your phone has a
built-in streaming audio player AND your carrier permits the transfer of
streaming audio files on its network you will also see a link to stream the
audio."

Just like any other streaming capable phone...

And, like most of it, or something similar, is available for a myriad of
other mobiles.

In this case, (NPR) it seems exactly the same...

Your continued capacity for fantasy continues to fascinate me.....

Have you got BATC's ham TV website working on the FruitFone yet? The GB3HV
repeater had a German station check in last night! That's a long way for
UHF-FM, to say nothing of colour television! 1248 Mhz input, 1308 Mhz
output....in High Wycombe, England. Cool stuff, beautiful repeater....

It's got 9 "aerials" and when a signal comes in a voter samples all of them
to find the best signal and select the best "aerial".

Post your call to the BATC chat window next to GB3HV's video. Great fun!

I'm not sure what the fascination is....???

I played it for a few minutes....heard 3 commercials their EDUCATIONAL
LICENSES are NOT supposed to be involved in....and dumped 'em, just another
radio spammer selling some queer coffee company in Cicero, NY from WCNY in
Syracuse. I did glean the weather out of it, in between the spots, but I
can do that on any American radio station's string of spam from back home.

63F in Syracuse tonight....brrr!

They'll be burning up the diesel fuel. Global warming my ***....

I didn't see an iPhone link. Post the URL or how to get to it. I just
played the main page's flash player on the N800 you can't play.

If I want classical music, KING is better....

Too bad Steveass doesn't put REAL media players in his proprietary ****
products.....like everyone else uses.....making this nonsense unnecessary.

Right. We need a new thread:

"Repugnicans CAN get oxyrushbo on their transistor radios"
