Default Aim SMS mobile alerts, +1xxxxxxxxxx quit working

I'm Cingular blue, and have been for years. The weather alerts quit a few
weeks ago and moblie AIM only works if I log in using the AIM application on
the phone and log in with my regular AIM user name. The +1xxxxxxxxxx
approach doesn't work. I've tried the recycle 265022 trick: "?" sent to
265022 gets the proper help response back from AOL but "R" to that number
doesn't help anything. I've tried deleting and re-registering, but never
get the registration code from AOL to complete the registration. Is anyone
else having this problem?

I stopped being able to receive SMS messages starting the last week of
December (or so.)

Are you an old AT&T customer (blue) or an old Cingular customer
(orange)?

I'm going to call Cingular on Monday and find out what's going on.

I just tried a hard reset on my phone and it did not fix the problem.

I'm still blue. All other SMS except AIM works fine. I gave up on AOL
mobile alerts and started getting weather and headlines from Yahoo and the
local newspaper with no problems. (I also found a neat tool on traffic.com
that sends me very specific reports for my route, and recognized my caller
ID if I make a voice call and tells me about just my route.) SMS from the
Yahoo instant messanger web page also works fine. My problem has got to be
something on AOL's end but I stopped worrying about it. You might check
your feature options online if you've set up online account access. I
noticed a few weeks ago that my text messaging got turned off somehow at
about the same time that I switched out my SIM card with another one (also
blue). Maybe something got honked up. I just selected the same free SMS
"plan" that I've always had, for free incoming and 10 cents outgoing.
Despite rumors and the statement on my bill, the last two CS folks I talked
to told me that after the 21st my outgoing will be 15 cents but my incoming
will still be free. I have a Premier (business discount) plan, that may
make a difference, but the CS person seemed to indicate that all blue would
still be free incoming. Good luck.
