Default Beware Wirefly Media Max bogus first month free offer?

Wirefly.com offers the first month of Cingular MEdiaMax (and other
media) packages free in their order process. However, I found that my
month first bill charged me $19.99 for the MEdiaMax 200 package.

When I called Cingular, they claimed that they NEVER offer the first
month of MEdiaMax free. They do have a free upgrade to MEdiaMax
Unlimited for the first month but I'm still charged for MEdiaMax 200
for the first month.

Cingular told me to call Wirefly. I called wirefly.com and of course
they claimed it was Cingular's mistake.

I called Cingular again, and this time the operator actually followed
me through the order process at wirefly.com and confirmed they offer
the first month free on all their media add on packages. She also
claimed that Cingular has never offered this promotion, so it couldn't
be correct.

Unless, both Cingular operators are misinformed, this looks like
sketchy business practices by wirefly.com. Wirefly's customer service
doesn't seem very easy to reach or responsive from other posts I've
read.

Luckily, the second Cingular operator removed the charge as a
"courtesy", and I asked to lodge a complaint against Wirefly.com as a
retailer.

Has anyone else had this experience or actually gotten the first month
of MEdiaMax free?

Ha. Good old wirefly. Did you check the fine print. Probably says
something like the 'first month free' is a credit back to you after you have
some number of months of paid service. I first ran into their practices
when I investigated getting a phone 'free after rebate'. The hitch was I
would have to wait 6 months to SEND IN the rebate, and the dates were
specific (so many days before/after exactly 6 months passed) about when I
could send it in. It was such a hokey process I just said 'Forget that!'
and moved on. Sure as anything (and they were counting on it, I'm sure) I'd
forget or not do it right. Or they'd just not make good on it at all.
