Default Call forwarding sending to wrong phone number

I need to forward my cell phone calls to my office phone for an important
meeting this Friday. I decided to test the call forwarding as I've never
had to use this feature before. Good thing I tested it!

I've done everything correctly, including entering the number for calls to
be forwarded to correctly. However on testing by calling my cell phone from
my home phone (land line), the calls are being forwarded to another person's
extension! Is call forwarding is dyslexic? I'm trying to send to
1-XXX-XXX-2516 and the calls are being forwarded to 1-XXX-XXX-2561 instead.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with Cingular's call
forwarding? My mobile phone is a Motorola V551 (no laughing or flames,
please); I just need to have the calls forwarded to the correct number as
this meeting is very important to me.

Is there a fix or am I screwed? Thanks for your help!

Sounds like cockpit error. Recheck carefully.

Great phone.

Have you tried the obvious (try forwarding to xxx-2561) to see whether
it always swaps your last 2 digits? If so, problem solved.

Bear in mind that call forwarding is not handled by your phone but is
handeled at the wireless central office. You can prove it to yourself
by invoking Call Forwarding and then turning off your Cell Phone.
Calls will continue to be forwarded until CF is canceled; it won't do
what a call to your Cell Phone normally does when your phone is turned
off -- it won't go straight to Voicemail.
