Curious, can they tell which phone you have?

Since you can swap out sim cards and phones can they tell what phone you are
using? I would assume so, just curious.

The phone transmits its IMEI# to the tower, so they definitely can tell.

They could tell, but apparently do nothing with that info.

Well, the reason I'm wondering is that I just bought 3 phones and I plan to
get insurance on them. These phones are under my company, my son wanted to
swap phones with me cause the new one we got with a rebate could let him
connect to his pc for ringtones and stuff.

Basically we plan to trade phones. He also has a cingular phone which is
insured. I supposed I should probably just call eventually and "document"
the switch and transfer the insurances but for now it just seems like a
minor inconenience... both phones were purchased from cingular and I am
paying for both plans, just one personal and one under business.
