EDGE on the edge?

Ok, I live in a funky area...

Where I sit, Cingular is 800A (Houston area). I go 10 miles north and
Cingular is on a PCS license (Dallas area, Dobson has GSM @ 800A in this
area).

I'm seriously considering getting a data-only plan with Cingular. The
coverage overlaps nicely. Can I expect an EDGE call to normally
'survive' this situation, or will reconnection be required?

EGPRS(EDGE) should survive.
