Default Future Dial cable works fine for Motorola V551

A number of Internet resources advise against using a Future Dial cable
for flashing and modding Motorola phones. I was skeptical of that
advice, so I decided to give it a try.

I had no problems flashing and modding my Cingular branded Motorola V551
with a Future Dial ID 48 cable
<http://www.futuredial.com/fdcss/cablelist_icss.aspx>. Thus this appears
to be yet another Internet urban myth.

My guess is that this myth is a result of using the wrong Future Dial
cable. I found two different Future Dial cables for Motorola phones,
both with the same Motorola connector, but one just a cable that's
labeled for the V551 and newer phones (ID 48), and one with a
rectangular box in the middle of the cable for older phones.

This myth may also be a result of not properly seating the cable
connector in the phone -- it's very important to seat it carefully,
fully and properly.

The rectangular box most likely houses a serial-to-USB converter chip like
the Prolific PL-2303 - necessary for older phones that do not have a
built-in USB interface (or, like some LG models, where the USB interface
is unreliable).

Yep. Meant to include that, but forgot -- thanks.
