Default Is the Microsoft Office suite 'Docs to Go' coming to IPhone in June?

from the Office Mobility Blog...
Microsoft Office mobility on the world's most popular smartphones

Earlier today CEO of DataViz, Inc., Dick Fontana, appeared on Fox
Business Network to share his thoughts about the recently announced
iPhone software development kit (SDK) and developing applications
(such as the popular Microsoft Office suite, Documents To Go) for this
platform.

With many other mobile device platforms, such as Palm and Windows
Mobile, a software company like DataViz is free to develop at will as
the software can be marketed through a variety of channels. Based on
yesterday's announcement from Apple, it seems things may be a bit
different for the iPhone:

"The fact that there's one path bringing software to the device means
that we have to go to the keepers of that path..."
While some may consider this a negative, DataViz has a long
relationship with Apple which gives Dick reason to be optimistic about
the opportunities for DataViz with the iPhone:

"We were one of the first developers for the Macintosh in 1984 and
they [Apple] have always proven to be good business partners... We
have every reason to believe that the path will be open for us."
You can see all of Dick's comments at the DataViz Channel on YouTube.

We are currently investigating the opportunity to develop Documents To
Go, RoadSync, Passwords Plus and any of our other software titles for
the iPhone and would appreciate your feedback.

I wasn't aware that Docs2Go was a Microsoft product as your subject line
indicates. Care to elaborate?

Why do some people have to insist on being so thick or pedantic?!? :-\

Documents to Go is obviously a Dataviz product to give you the ability
to use your Microsoft Office documents on small portable devices.

I liked it on my Treo. Looking forward to the iPhone version.

I'm surprised you ever used it enough to form an opinion, given how
"difficult" you keep telling us all non-iPhones are to use, and that all
third-party apps hosed your Treo!

Stop being such a baby. Loved my Treo until something better came along.
iPhone runs circles around it. Yes, was tired of the third party apps
crashing the unit, but had you forgotten that DocsToGo came with unit?

Geez, relax a bit, Kurt- just poking a little fun, and kind of making the
point that we all somehow muddled through with these "user-hostile" devices
in the months B.I.

No, in fact, I hadn't, but it's still a 3rd-party app regardless of whether
or not Palm threw it in.

Yes, it just seems like objectivity has been tossed out the window
lately.

Given that only a couple 3rd party apps came with it, I figure it had
been thoroughly tested for compatibility.

Believe me, I'm just apprehensive about third party apps that might be
available to the iPhone, but Apple seems committed to make sure we don't
have the conflicts that we see in other phones.

Frankly, it seems much better now that Oxford's settled into a new quieter
identity...

I'm a WinMo guy rathr than a Palm guy, so I've learned that that's no
guarantee! ;-)

That's why I don't have a problem with Apple's level of control. Both open
and closed platforms have their advantages, and, to their credit, Apple
seems to be trying to strike a reasonable balance between them.

Opera Mini was a disaster for Treo until they took a few versions to get
the bugs out. Never want to ever see this again. I learned years ago
that I never want to be a beta tester for anyone, worse, one that I had
to pay for the privilege. Probably why I've stuck with Macs ;-).

NO posts to these two groups can be "on topic" because iPhone doesn't run
on Verizon, a CDMA carrier.

Actually I checked Radio Shack today and the manager said he gets many
Verizon customers everyday coming in who are inquiring about getting
an iPhone. Any information about this wildly popular device helps all
exisitng Verizon customers figure out how to obtain one. One detail
all should know is that they can't currently get one at Radio Shack.

He was knowledgeable about issues of prepay simms in the iPhone and
dropping iPhone simms in other phones.

Another manager for a large cell store did mention he could show his
customer how to put an iPhone on one of his other carriers.

Don't think so. You just post fanboi stuff. How would that "help" people
"figure out" how to buy an iphone?
