Default Mobile in India is still growing and is likely to grow beyond 2012

Mobile operators are just a little more than commodity-pushers - the
pipes and billers for services others own. They will be perpetual
percentage-cut taking middlemen, until someone discovers how to cut
them out of the chain. That someone will be the next Google. That
someone will be the one who would develop a parallel micro-billing
eco-
system. That someone will be the one who will create an environment to
reach out mobile handsets bypassing the operator using Bluetooth or
other technologies that allow hybrid of internet and mobile networks,
The mobile operators are fearing that someone.

Of course there is a big opportunity for mobile data services. Mobile
in India is still growing and is likely to grow beyond 2012. Everyone
talks about mobile data’s growth; revenues are growing exponentially.
In future, we will see more complex services in mobile data, specially
in domains related to enterprise segment including mobile ERP,
location-based services, mobile advertisements, social networking and
mobile commerce.

The leading mobile data services companies of the future will not
necessarily be mobile operators. They will be the companies that would
create newer and relevant business models; companies that would
understand their target customers well; companies that would keep
innovating to produce newer services that are relevant for their
customer segment.

The future mobile data services companies will be the ones that
understand customer well, Innovate, think beyond the pipe and create
newer and relevant business models. To survive and grow in the field
of mobile data services, one has to bid good bye to BFCD Pipe
phenomenon and welcome the wave of Mobile Data Service companies!
