Default No more 3GiPhones for now - Ebay has them for $1200 ea

Apple is in the envious position of having sold all their 3G iPhone
stock. There simply are no more to be had. This has lead to outrageous
bids for 3g iPhones on Ebay where some are going for $1200 or more.

Think of it. If you had scored one of the few new phones you could be
selling it for $900 to $1000 MORE THAN YOU PAID FOR IT.

Buy low sell high.

What other cell phone has had that sort of value?

COSPIRACY THEORY

Some nut jobs believe that the incredible shortage of the iPhone is
deliberate. Apple is believed by these conspiracy buffs to be
intentionally not haveing enough iPhone on hand to meet expected
demand thus driving wealthy would be users into making desperate bids
to obtain one.

Sort of-you're neglecting the nearly $300 in first month's service and
early-termination fees the seller gets hit with when cancelling service,
but still a nice profit if you can get it.

And how does that benefit Apple any more than scalping $50 concert tickets
for $300 helps the performers?

Generally a conspiracy theory has to make sense, at least from the
perspective of those perpetrating the conspiracy.

Unless they're hoping this "profit opportunity" will reward the same people
that were screwed in last year's price drop, and balance the corporate
Karma? ;-)

Maybe this is how Apple trains all the fanbois to wait on line for a week to
buy each new incarnation of their products

Hey "4phun" fanboi, PLEASE stop posting to the T-Mo group. We simply
don't care about the iphone, or how few there are or how much they cost
or how they work. In turn, I promise not to post info about my favorite
phones to ATT groups (even though they would work there just fine).

I see they are up to $1375 (USD) now in Russia in bids for the iPhone.
Even the new president has a black market iPhone over there. If you
are fortunate enough to have a new iPhone you can make money with it
if you want to sell it.

If you happened to be an AT&T TILT user, you could just toss your SIM
back in the TILT and sell the iPhone, no ETF needed since the contract
would still be active.

In today's conference call with the money boys, it was said there was less
than 2% of the stores with a 3G to sell, not good news for the investors -
no product to sell - makes them nervous.

But, alas, Apple is going to send YOUR 3G you're waiting for to one of the
20 NEW countries they are opening up iPhone sales in soon.

How awful....customer support.

no larry it doesn't work that way, the block of each 20 countries to be
modernized will have additional production by the time of the rollout.

read over the conference call

"Q: Gene Munster: iPhone good launch. Out of product. When will channel
refill? Tim: Pleased with production ramp. Shipping as fast as we can.
Confident enough that we will be launching 20 additional countries on
Aug. 22. Still expect to sell in more than 70 countries before the end
of the year. Not going to predict when supply will meet demand.

in other news, 3G iphones are now selling for over $2,200 on ebay.

If you had a Tilt, why in heaven's name would you have bought an iPhone in
the first place? ;-)

Hey that is a good idea if you needed the money.

They had only four to sell yesterday in the USA and one of those was
in Alaska. Maybe someone will return theirs in the 30 day window and
they will sell it as refurbished for less. If we could grab a few
before they become generally available again we could make a killing!

So how the hell are these stupid bastards supposed to make their
shareholders any PROFIT? Long dick bragging points don't make money!

No wonder the stock is nose diving! We oughta sue their sorry asses.

If you don't mind the contract renewal, and happen to have a store or
two nearby that has 'em in stock, it does seem like a good gig.

Well, a couple reasons.

First, I get to support the platform, so I may as well become familiar
with it.

Second, I can sell my iPod Touch 8GB for more then the iPhone 8GB will
cost me, and the iPhone does a lot more then the Touch even without a
SIM card. So the iPhone upgrade is a freebie for me.

Third, Rogers has a $30/6GB/month data plan that is only available to
qualifying 3G devices. The Tilt doesn't qualify as Rogers doesn't offer
the device.

A bit of quick math says that $30/6GB/month is a better deal then
$80/500MB/month, and over the next 36 months, I'll save $1800 by
investing $199 today, even if I never took the iPhone out of the box.

I've been going back and forth, I'm finding that as a PDA, I still
prefer the Tilt. As a phone and for games, definitely the iPhone.

Both work nicely without a SIM card, which is rather nice.
