Sending text message from computer to telephone

I just got on the Cingular network from the old AT&T network. What Email
address do I use to send a message from my home PC to my cell phone?
Is there a Cingular web site that I could also send a text message to a
Cingular phone?

Try this one, it's working for me:

[yourcellnumber]@mobile.mycingular.com

Some information on Cingular's web site suggests using the
"@cingularme.com" domain instead, but that doesn't work for me. There are
also reports of other problems (specifically phone lockups) using the
cingularme address, so it's probably best avoided for now. Link to forum

Does anybody know why? Their Web site seems to make a point of not explaining
the action. Did a spammer get ahold of it or something?

Seems like th emost plausible explanation. Being able to send text
messages which cost folks money anonymously via a web interface
requiring no authentication is just asking for abuse.

But I don't know for sure.
